Samsung India announces iPad mini rival Note 510

NEW DELHI: Samsung has announced its Apple iPad mini rival Galaxy Note 510 in India. The device, which features an 8-inch touchscreen, was announced at Samsung Forum event.

Galaxy Note 510 comes with a TFT display that supports 1280x800p resolution and 189ppi pixel density. It runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) layered with Nature UX and is powered by a 1.6GHz quad-core processor, coupled with 2GB RAM. The device supports microSD cards up to 64GB and is powered by a 4,600mAh battery.

The all-new Samsung Galaxy Note 510 comes with a 5MP camera on the back, while a 1.3MP unit is used in the front panel. Connectivity features of the device include 2G, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and microUSB 2.0. The device also has infrared, which enables it to be used as a universal remote control and electronic programming guide.

This device is compatible with S Pen stylus that is also used in other models of the Galaxy Note series. S Planner, Page Notes and Awesome Notes are among the apps that have been optimised for this stylus. The device has a feature called Reading Mode that adjusts the colour and tone of the screen to better suit the users. Other unique features of this tablet are Smart Stay and Smart Rotation, Paper Artist, Photo Note, Smart Remote and Easy Clip, among others.

The company has not revealed the tablet's price or availability details. The device was unveiled atMobile World Congress earlier this week under the name Galaxy Note 8.0 N5100.

Of late, Samsung Mobile India has been on a price cutting spree. The company slashed the prices of its Galaxy Note II and Galaxy S III smartphones, followed by a price cut of Galaxy Camera. The latest devices in the company's portfolio in India to receive price cuts are the two versions of Galaxy Tab 2.
